Auditions

The Ilion Little Theater will hold auditions Monday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, February 17 at 6:30 p.m. for the upcoming production of George Axelrod’s Goodbye Charlie, directed by Deborah Martin.
Performances will be held April 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
SUMMARY
The play opens with the memorial service of Charlie Sorel, a notorious womanizer shot by a jealous husband. Following his death Charlie’s soul returns to earth in the body of a woman, also named Charlie. This transformation sets the stage for a bubbly comedy of supernatural second chances. After the service, Charlie visits his best friend, George Tracy, who is the executor of Charlie’s estate. As they navigate the complexities of Charlie’s new identity, the play humorously examines whether George’s feelings for Charlie will change now that he is a woman. Charlie decides to write a diary posing as his own widow to blackmail the wealthy women he had previously seduced, adding layers of intrigue and comedy to the plot. Completing the love triangle is Rusty, a married woman who was involved with Charlie before his death. She confesses to George that her feelings for Charlie were genuine, complicating the dynamics further. The play ultimately explores themes of redemption, love, and the consequences of one’s past actions, all wrapped in a light-hearted comedic package.

Monthly Gatherings

A tradition still upheld many decades later is the social aspect of the Ilion Little Theater. While the organization continues to produce shows for the general public throughout the year, the organization’s members meet once a month to socialize over a meal at the theater.
Each gathering is held the third Thursday of the month (unless pre-empted by a scheduled performance), every month, from September through May.
General organization business is conducted during these meetings, but both current members and those interested in joining are invited to attend.
The next monthly gathering of the Ilion Little Theater will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2025. Join us for an evening of food, fun, and a few surprises! Sweep away the old and bad, welcome in the new and good! Teams will compete in a game of Riddles. Participation is optional, of course. Feel free to bring a dish, dessert, or your favorite beverage to share. Good fortune to all in 2026!
Email us at ilionlittletheatre@gmail.com with any questions.
If you’re not an active member but are thinking about becoming involved in the theater or would like more information, please join us as our guest. We are always looking for new members to assist in a variety of tasks, have fun, and enjoy each other’s company.
Dinner meetings / monthly gatherings are held at the theater (also referred to as “The Stables”), located at 13 Remington Ave, behind Remington Arms.
